People have been telling stories for thousands of years. Storytelling allows us to teach values, share customs, preserve culture and create identity. Using computer video to combine snapshots and music clips with our own words, we can create unique digital stories. This modern-day storytelling will connect individuals and bridge cultures for generations to come.
Digital Storytelling
Writers and artists are cultural storytellers. They observe and relay the details of daily life and in turn celebrate the richness of cultural heritage and identity. Levi Romero, a New Mexico poet and teacher, found inspiration in a poem by George Ella Lyon. To celebrate his own Hispanic heritage, Romero then created a writing model for students of all ages that encourages them to explore, identify and express their own cultural heritages.
