The Saturday Tutoring Program - Tutor Orientation

Tutor Orientation
The Saturday Tutoring Program
January 23, 2010
10 am - noon
Church of the Covenant

Help a child succeed! Be a tutor in the Saturday Tutoring Program, which provides free tutoring for students in grades 1-12 from school districts throughout Greater Cleveland.

Volunteer when it fits your schedule; an every-week commitment is not required. Sessions are held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon at the Church of the Covenant (11205 Euclid Avenue) in University Circle. Come as an individual or with a group. Tutors cover basic reading and math, homework assignments, or standardized test preparation. Materials, training, supervision, and free parking are provided.

Qualifications: Must be at least 17 years old. Need desire and patience to help youngsters succeed, familiarity with subject to be taught, and ability to convey ideas clearly in fluent written and spoken English.

Your time + your knowledge = a child’s future.

In the 2-hour, interactive training session on January 23, new tutors will meet program leaders and experienced volunteers, learn procedures, practice tutoring strategies, and preview materials. If tutors are unable to attend this session, a brief orientation is available at 9:15 a.m. each Saturday. Tutoring begins Saturday, January 30, and continues through April 17, 2010.
