Dear Scholarship Applicant:

Congratulations upon your forthcoming graduation from high school. You have made significant progress toward achieving your educational goals.
In recognition of Eugenia Thornton's nineteen years of dedicated service as the writer of a quarterly book review newsletter, Marginal Notes, the Friends of the Cleveland Public Library have established the Eugenia Thornton Scholarship Program.
The selection of the scholar will be by random drawing from the names of eligible participants. The scholarship is sponsored by the Friends of the Cleveland Public Library. Payment of the $1,000 will be made directly to the post secondary education program attended.

Your standing as a graduating senior, with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher, a resident of the city school district of Cleveland, Ohio and a patron of Cleveland Public Library or another CLEVNET library makes you eligible to apply for this special scholarship program. You will be required to return this application and a copy of your previous semester transcript to any branch or subject department of Cleveland Public Library before Friday, May 30, 2008. The application must be returned to the Library by the applicant in person. The winner will be notified by letter by June 20,2008.
